Cycle Times are increasing dramatically due to parts lead times, ADAS inspections and calibrations, and greater adherence to OE repair standards.  Increasing cycle times mean increases in shop Work in Progress (# of open RO’s) that, in turn, decreases shop capacity.  There is a clear mathematical connection between a shop’s “WIP” and Cycle Time and the corresponding reduction in shop capacity.  In this edition of IMPACT Collision Solutions, we will share how cycle times have increased, demonstrate how this affects shop Work in Progress and suggest how collision centers can better manage their WIP on a day-to-day basis.
