Quality is more important than ever to collision centers and their customers. As vehicles become technologically more complex, adhering to OE standards and repair procedures has become the norm. The entire repair and claims process is under a microscope. But what is a Quality repair? Simply said, quality is adherence to specification. In collision repair, the specifications for a repair include a complete damage report, copies of the repair standards determined by the manufacturer, repair process guidelines established by I-CAR, the pre-accident condition of the vehicle, and the expectations of the customer. Quality is not merely checked after the fact–it must be built into the process from start to finish. In this edition of IMPACT Collision Solutions, we address the three aspects of the quality assurance process–Prevention, Assessment, and Correction–and how collision center managers can be proactive to assure that every repair meets the intended specification.
