Many shops are hanging out the “help wanted” sign to hire additional technicians. The choices available to shops are to try to attract experienced techs (i.e. steal from competitors) or to grow their own. Both options have challenges. Recycling the same techs from shop to shop does not add to the workforce; but recruiting and developing entry-level technicians is extremely challenging, and time-consuming. Triaging repairs and developing production teams enables groups of techs with varying skill and experience levels to work together to leverage newly added personnel to meet today’s growing demands for skills and production. This month, Collision Solutions will briefly touch on a few ideas to enhance teamwork on the production floor and increase productions capacity.
