Our IMPACT Collision Solutions message this month discusses Cavity Wax—The Most Needed Not-Included Item.  Every collision repair is unique.  Therefore, estimating guides and automated estimating systems include certain labor operations that are common to all similar repairs and exclude certain operations that may vary from one individual repair to another.  Procedure Pages list operations that are “included” and operations that are “not-included,” and therefore, must be written as separate line items.  Materials are ALWAYS “not-included” and must be specifically invoiced.  One rarely billed not-included operation, the application of Cavity Wax and the cost of those materials, is becoming more important due to being required by the repair standards of most OEMs.  This represents an essential opportunity for collision centers to both meet OE repair standards and to increase their labor and paint & material SALES by writing this operation where it is appropriate to do so.  The materials inventory of every collision center should include Cavity Wax and the items required to apply it.
